The Carquinez Model Railroad Society’s layout is a model set in the geography of Northern California & Nevada. It is a compressed interpretation of the Southern Pacific main line stretching from Oakland California, to Sparks Nevada with extensions to Tracy & Stockton. Our Layout is comprised of 1,900 feet of main line track with an additional 1100 feet of yards & industries. There are over 400 switches or turnouts. There are two 9 foot diameter helixes that allow trains to travel from one level to another. The entire main line is dual-tracked for travel in both directions. The schematics below show the Second and Third levels. Level 1 is used for staging and a coal mine.
